Friday

Yes I know today is Saturday. For some reason I woke up to my cat hitting me in the face, and the only time she does that is when Im late.

So I snap up before it hits me, its Saturday. She was just hungry, lil bugger.

Friday was very much like Thursday for me, a lot of time spent in the east bay. Spent a lot of time on Bart

My company has started getting more clients in Oakland and Berkeley area’s and they send me. Gravy. Thank god for GPS, b/c I dont know the east bay for shit still. Main roads and blvd’s sure but we all know that we dont deliver to the obvious. I left my house at 8:15 and was back in Oakland at 10. Made it back to SF around 11, did 4 runs from Downtown to the Cathedral hill, before getting a double rush tag to the new Bay Bridge construction site base, Ty Lin, due there in 40 mins. Now that place is a pain in the ass to get to. Its alongside the toll plaza, before the bridge and nothing comes close to it. West Oakland Bart, take Mandela PrkWy and back down West Grand into the Ports / Old Army Base to a small service road. Nothing but Semi’s blowing pass you, shit all over the road, and industrial. 40 mins and I have to still go pick it up, cool. I got the package and shot back to BART, and hit the streets. Somehow I managed to pull this out of my ass and was only like 2 mins late, not that it mattered.

Got another one in Oakland, a Filing this time, so I make my way to the court house, and another hour passed Im out of there. So far a good day right? I start on my way home when Trackstanding at light, I take off and I hear a loud crack and next thing I know my left crank arm is moving freely. Not good. I pull over and take a look. Its not dettached from the BB but its not connected either. Fuck, the spindle broke…

I walk home and take the Masi apart to bring it to Bay Area Bikes. Pack it in my Chrome bag and hope on the CX. Matt and John check it out and thought the same thing judging on how the crank was moving, a broken spindle. Of course I would have to replace the BB. Matt started removing the BB and was having somewhat of a hard time getting it out, once he did we discovered something ridiculous.

Split cleanly in two. Nice. Thank god this didnt happen while I was spinning down a hill busting a whipskid 360 something. Would have probably been my very last one. Luck, thank you. I need to just buy a phil wood and call it a day. right now another cheapo just to get buy, and luckily Friday was the last day of it being the full time work house. Not a bad way to end the work day all in all, and am expecting to pick the Road bike up soon.
